The Secretary for Transport and Housing and Chairman of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board, Mr Frank Chan Fan, will depart Hong Kong for London next Monday night (September 11) to promote Hong Kong as an international maritime centre.
On September 12, Mr Chan will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Lord Jeffrey Mountevans, Chairman of Maritime London, to foster collaboration between Hong Kong and London in promoting the maritime industry and high value-added maritime services. He will also meet with the Minister of State at the Department for Transport of the United Kingdom, Mr John Hayes, to exchange views on the development of the global maritime industry and explore opportunities to enhance co-operation between Hong Kong and London.
In addition, Mr Chan will speak on the opportunities brought about by the Belt and Road Initiative and Hong Kong's role as a "super-connector" at a seminar on the Belt and Road Initiative organised by Maritime London.
Mr Chan will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon on September 14.
